Floss Forever explores the ownership of movements through the digital avatars that accompany our organic bodies. Who owns the movement of bodies? Can dance be seen as a property? In the video game Fortnite, mini sequences of moves are combined into tiny pieces of choreography, which are used as emotes – linking a specific feeling to a specific movement. Technologies such as motion capture, transforms dance into a physical material just like any other.
Which can be deformed, copied, and transferred. In this new found realm of the digital, movements are no longer exclusive. We are no longer the sole owners of our movements. New hosts are performing our dances. Limbs jolting, spines spraining. Movements becomes disconnected from the flesh, they belong to anyone now. As well as everyone else movements belong to you.
